Communication is the Key!!

hey folks,

I just want to write of my emotions today I guess, I felt so annoyed by the so called 'helptroops, officials" , that had to represent our country, I mean what kind of retarded spokesperson did they put there???

You might expect from these kind of ppl ( a mayor of Haarlem, emergency service spokeswoman and other officials) that they actually now how to represent our country in times of catastrophe and certainly know how to communicate both in English as in Dutch.

While they were holding their press conference, the mayor of Haarlem was like: no can't give you an answer to that, no can't give you an answer to that too... then it was said that the press conference was gonna be postponed to 4 o'clock pm. Then they didn't have any detailed information too ( you might expect, from an aircrash that happened at 10:30 am in the morning) that they had at least a passengerlist detailed(especially since in Turkey it was alraedy there on internet!!) , there were leaked pictures of the 2 pilots that passed away, whereas in Holland it hadn't even been confirmed that they were in fact pilots among the nine dead.

Than the mayor director and other high officials started talking in English, I was just deeply and I mean this in every possible way it could be meant: ASHAMED.

Their English sounded very very lame, they couldnt even spell 'hard words out right, stopped and paused mainly and were overall just unclear not something you might expect from high officials... this is actually something thats always been bothering me in the Netherlands, they focus on grammar, and on a great vocabulary but never pay much attention to PRONOUNCIATION...

So here you have an university/master graduated person that sounds horrible... I mean its one that you have an accent in Dutch ( I suppose thats something thats just not easy to errase, but to sound like you pause and stop and slipping over the words) That is something to be concerned abt...

And as in terms of today... Even the relatives of the passengers that were present in the plane... weren't provided by full information, Yes, help was there for the passengers but how abt the relatives???

They had to find out all by themselves where to switch too and with it comes that even one stated the same thing I stated earlier on, that they(officals) keep things for themselves that had already been confrimed abroad... and those ppl have to represent our company? How on earth is it possible that an accident that took place in our country didn't have full coverage, whereas in Turkey they knew more???

The relevatives had to find out everything by themselves coz our governement and officials wanted to be clear before providing information...
which is okay but c'mon 10:30 and at 7 or 8 you cant even provide more information? Plus all trafic had to lay down also flight traffic??? even in the afternoon ... The accident took place at a field thats (1)... Secondly airplanes that were waiting for take of could take another field to go from... I just couldn't believe that for one accident the whole of that area had to be made unavalaible...

I was just really anoyed, Another reason for me to stress the importance of practising English pronounciation

Oh and guys i am not stating here that I am so perfect in English coz i make mistakes however I do practise and on my accent... but you might expect from our government/officials to at least be able to be understood... and certainly not only provide help to the ppl that died/got injured but also provide good information GOOD COMMUNICATION to the relatives... and loved ones of the passengers...

-1 for Holland if you ask me... Tomorrow more on this story...
